It's National Elder Law Month! - Makofsky Valente Law Group, P.C.

The month of May is National Elder Law Month. According to the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, National Elder Law month is an “opportunity to educate and empower older adults about their legal rights and protections.” We wholeheartedly agree.

At Makofsky Valente Law Group, every month is Elder Law Month. For our dedicated attorneys, every day is Elder Law Day. We have built our careers on educating and providing guidance to older people in all areas of elder law.

We provide education and information in our weekly blog. Click here to explore previous topics, such as our six-part probate series, or our case-based stories. We regularly cover disability and estate planning, and topical issues, such as the use of ChatGPT by a lawyer. Recently we covered various issues regarding Medicaid, including common myths about Medicaid and warning signs and situations that may indicate you need help with Medicaid planning.

How else do we provide information and resources? Our attorneys conduct elder law workshops for the general public via adult education programs across Long Island. To visit our speaking schedule, click here.

Even if you don’t want to leave your home, we have resources for you. Our attorneys have recorded webinars on elder law topics including how to leave money to heirs, and how to create your own health care proxy. Click here to see our previous webinars.

And finally, we have a list of resources and links on our website to help you get the assistance you need.

We wish you a happy Elder Law Month, and hope you have a chance to use the information we provide. We always are interested in knowing what topics you’d like us to cover here. Please give us a call or email us!
