Summer Fun! Things to do!
From our beautiful beaches to fun festivals to amazing outdoor venues and everything in between, Long Island has it all during the summer season. To help kick off summer, here is a list of some activities that you should take advantage of this season:

  1. Take a day trip to one of our many beaches!
    Long Island is known for its beautiful beaches. Public beaches such as Jones Beach and Robert Moses Beach are open to anyone! Those over 62 years of age pay no fee to enter Jones Beach on weekdays. Residents can get a day pass or a season pass at any of the beaches affiliated with their town.Town of Oyster Bay residents over the age of 60 can simply go to the beach and show their driver’s license and get a season parking pass for free!     Residents of the Town of Hempstead who are 55 and over can take part in the Senior Summer Beach Program at The Sands at Lido Beach. This program includes exciting entertainment and recreational options and begins on June 27th and runs through September 2nd.   2. Attend a free concert under the stars!

  3. Attend a show at one of Long Island’s professional theaters!

  4. Go to a festival with the whole family!
    St. James Summer Nights – An outing for the whole family with food trucks, music and crafts galore. Saint James Elementary, 580 Lake Ave., St. James. 5-9 p.m. June 29, July 20, Aug. 17.Patchogue’s popular Alive After Five Summer Main Street festival series is back, running four Thursdays instead of Fridays this year. 22 W. Main St., Patchogue. 5 p.m. July 14, 28; Aug. 11, 25.

    Oyster Bay Cruise Night hosted by the OBEN Chamber of Commerce – Every Tuesday evening during the summer, the streets of Oyster Bay are filled with classic cars and spectators during Long Island’s most popular car show. In addition to live music there are also weekly raffles and giveaways for the kids!  Each show starts at 5:45 p.m. and runs until dark, every Tuesday night (weather permitting).

These are just a few ideas! Of course, this is so much more you can do on Long Island in the summer such as dining and drinking outdoors while listening to live music or visiting one of the many vineyards the island has to offer!
