Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo recently issued Executive Order No. 202.22 in which he granted Nassau County Executive, Laura Curran, the authority to delay the deadline for second-half school district property taxes, without interest or penalties. The Governor’s executive order allowed Nassau County Executive Curran to enact a one-time extension of the deadline from May 11, 2020 to June 1, 2020. In accordance with Governor Cuomo’s executive order, Nassau County Executive Laura Curran issued a Nassau County executive order on April 21, 2020 to officially enact the extension, thereby waiving any interest and penalties until June 1, 2020 for payment of the second-half school district property taxes which were due May 10, 2020.
We hope this news provides some temporary relief to Nassau County’s taxpayers while we all weather the COVID-19 storm.
