In last week’s blog we discussed how our Spring Adult Education programs have begun! From now through mid-May (and then again in the Fall) you can attend one of our workshops which take place across Long Island. This is a great opportunity to learn something new at either our Elder Law Workshop or How to Leave Money to Heirs class.
This week we take a look at our How to Leave Money to Heirs class, which is presented by either partner Lisa Valente, Esq. or associate Christina Lamm, Esq. This program will help you understand what is involved in making sure that your money is distributed to whom you want.
What will you learn at this program? We will be going over the following topics:
– Intestacy laws – What happens to your estate if you die without a plan?
– How the law works regarding joint accounts, Totten trust accounts.
– What is probate all about?
– What is an executor?
– Understanding trusts.
– Estate plans – including a sample estate plan for a single person.
– Health Care Proxy and Power of Attorney – including sample forms.
Our classes are being offered in Plainview, Rockville Centre, Massapequa, Long Beach, Farmingdale, Lindenhurst, and Bellmore-Merrick. Classes are one evening, for two hours. Class sizes are limited and students will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions. See the schedule and registration info here!
We hope you enjoy these programs and that they prove useful for you. Don’t forget to register today for the program of your choice! At Makofsky Valente Law Group, P.C. we are here to help with all of your estate planning and other legal issues. We are only an email or phone call away!
